Help for Hayley

WHAT HAS HAPPENED?
Hayley is 16 months old and was diagnosed with brain cancer 2 weeks ago. It was a shock, with no symptoms previously. Her Mum, Nicky, is pregnant with their second child. It has been confirmed that Hayley will need more surgeries, followed by lengthy and aggressive treatment. At this point, Hayley is very rocky and fragile and it is unclear when she will wake up. However it is more than clear that Nicky and Steve need time with Hayley. She needs her parents by her side.

How was the cancer discovered?
Hayley fell off a lounge at daycare and hit her head. She started vomiting and Nicky and Steve took her to the hospital where they monitored her.
In the evening she was unable to be roused and things escalated quickly with a CT scan that showed brain swelling and a tumour.
She was then transferred to Sydney Children’s Hospital and was heavily sedated, with a breathing tube and drains inserted to drain excess fluid and help with the swelling.
The next day Hayley had a lengthy surgery to remove part of the tumour. It was not able to be removed completely. She then started to have seizures and was not waking up when expected.
MRI's and CT scans are now a regular occurrence.

An MRI showed that there has been some serious damage to blood vessels and brain cells. The damage may be some very very sick cells who could possibly start to heal over the next few weeks (even months) but it is also very possible that these cells have died under the pressure. The hardest part of this news is that these cells and vessels are the ones that allow Hayley to see, talk and wake up.

On top of this Nicky and Steve received the results of the pathology of the tumour on Saturday morning. Sadly the tumour is both malignant and aggressive.  Hayley will need chemotherapy, but at the moment the priority is trying to let her brain recover and wake up. The timing for allowing recovery and needing treatment has become a tricky thing.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?
Nicky and Steve have requested that we all please be praying that God would do a miraculous work in regenerating her brain cells.

They have never requested anything other than prayers.

However, to myself and many others, it only feels natural to offer something else, as well as our abundant and ongoing prayers. Something practical that will help Hayley have her parents by her side. That is why this GoFundMe page has been created.

Hayley is a friendly, clever and happy baby girl who bonded so easily with my baby boy. Having the power of empathy, I can imagine myself in their position, so I ask that you do the same. What would you want? Time with your baby. What would your baby want? Time with you.

We can help give them time. Small amounts of money that you can spare could contribute to accommodation nearby the hospital, or tanks of petrol to the hospital to see their baby. It could contribute to take away or pre-prepared food so they don't need to spend time shopping and cooking, when they could be with Hayley. It could help cover bills and the mortgage when they run out of sick leave but Hayley needs them with her, especially during surgeries and chemotherapy. It is going to be a lengthy and hard road to recovery for Hayley, during which Nicky will birth Hayley's sibling.

THANK YOU
Thank you for trying to help, for taking your time to exercise empathy, for thinking of Nicky and Steve, and for praying for Hayley.

GoFundMe has asked that the following information be displayed for transparency:

1. Who I am: Elizabeth Singh
2. Where you're from: Ingleburn, but recently moved to Hunter Valley.

5. If you intend to withdraw the money, how you plan to send the funds to the parties you're raising money for: I will not withdraw, the account that was entered when I activated this page is the direct account of the recipients, so it will go straight to them.
