Hello!
If you know me, asking for financial assistance is brutally painful. You would also know that recently I had to make a life or death decision for one of my beautiful rescued Labrador Retrievers, Lady. She had collapsed and in order to have a fighting chance at survival, Lady required immediate extensive medical intervention, including emergency surgery and a transfusion. Reeling from that unexpected catastrophe, I sat in the parking lot of the Emergency Veterinary Hospital, alone, trying to wrap my head around the event, and praying to know the right path forward. In the end, the only decision was to do everything in my power to save her - just as she had saved me the year before when I felt I was at death’s door fighting my own battle against grave illness.
I have been a fierce advocate for all dogs - yours, mine and those needing rescue. My volunteer and non-profit work in El Dorado County helped stand up both the Cameron Park and El Dorado Hills off-leash dog parks. That passion, along with my ownership of ‘The Dogs’ House’, a small home-based canine board and care service, has sustained my vested interest in maintaining, growing, and improving the quality of life in Cameron Park.
Thankfully, Lady fought, survived and has come home to me and her twin Abbe. I remain in awe of her personal power, tenacity and will to live. She is quite exhausted, sleeping most of the time. I continue to be overwhelmed at the outpouring of love for my sweet Girl. Thank you all for that. We feel it as we bunker down to recuperate.
COVID19 has impacted all of us. That makes asking you to help weigh all the more heavy on my heart. I have never asked for help. I only do so now because without a financial intervention, I am in unknown and frightening territory. The goal is half of the Vet bill.
Thank you for any amount you can lean in with. Lady, Abbe and I stand in gratitude that we are all still here.
Be safe & well. And kiss your pups. Love you, All!
Holly, Lady & Abbe
