I have wanted to be a writer for as long as I can remember. In 2013 I received some promising feedback from an agent who encouraged me to keep at it and workshop my pieces some more. I was thrilled and motivated to apply again to a Highlights Foundation workshop that I have been trying to go to for the past few years. Then I found out I was getting laid off and writing was put on hold while I searched for a new day job to pay the rent. Thankfully, I was not out of work for too long and I ended up back in school as well. I'm enjoying being back in school, but discovering accounting is not my passion. In 2014 I applied for a specialized workshop called "Super Children's Book Boot Camp" at the Foundation's headquarters in Pennsylvania and was accepted. This a huge opportunity for me and could be just what I need to launch a new career as a picture book author. I was given a partial scholarship but now I need help coming up with the rest of the funds for the workshop and travel related expenses. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Fun fact: Molly Shannon wrote a picture book. The picture on my page is me meeting her at the Texas Book Festival where I volunteer every year.
