I’m Tanja Diamond, the new facilitator for the group steering committee, now called GPS committee, and the new writers network group which has been named Whidbey Writers Network! 

Our new groups mission statement: Gathering and disemminating resources for Whidbey Island writers.

The structure:

Main purpose to gather resources and share by use of a website we are going to have built and through social media.

Start with Whidbey Resources and build from there>
Be an example for other communities.

We are going to have to rely on community to get everyone info on all the things  we as  writers want and need. That became  apparent during the meeting and emails afterwards.

Everyone has a different idea of what is needed and so I  believe the best way to get this done is to empower everyone to ask, How can I help?

I break it down like this. 

WWN is the roof for all the resources we need as writers on WI. We, as a group, are not putting on, per se, the events or creating the groups, or hosting the co-works- you are doing that, and we are providing a structure so that we can make it easy to find AND create the things we/you need.

It works like this.

We have PILLARS, those are people who say they will be responsible or a go to when someone has information they want to share or information they might need in regards to all things writing and book support. Those PILLARS are holding up the roof, which is the group.

We divided the PILLARS like this:

groups/co works: 
events: socials, classes, workshops
new members/ Email list:
general resources:links to all things writing book support:  publishers, editors, writing coaches, literary agents, writers for hire, book stores  
social media: Facebook, Meetups, Website, group email

There might be other things yet this is what we identified as the main items needed to be a good resource for writers. If you have ideas please come to out next GPS or community meeting and tell us how you can help.


Next up, we need to fund our site.

The plan is to have a very automated and wonderful site and I was able to get one of the best web developers I know to give us a VERY discounted rate to get one of these amazing sites done.

It will grow with us easily as we get bigger and need more resources. We will automate the email systems as well, and it is very user friendly for anyone who needs to use it. 

This is where we get to find out how badly we as writers want and need a resource group. Our target funding is $2000. 

$1,200 for the site directly and the rest for items we need do set up the site (domain, which I already bought, hosting, graphics, email service and those things)

I see this a by donation process and this allows everyone to give as they can.

If we truly want this resource group. WWN,  then I know we are going to find a way to get it done and we start here.
