Thank you for stopping in! I am Stephanie (Wrigsmom) and this is my daughter Wrigley. We have faced many battles in her 15 years but we are both strong women and I am exceptionally proud of the young woman she has become and all her accomplishments.
We could use your help and support right now. Anything helps. We try to volunteer and give as much as we can to others, in any way we are able. But I currently find myself being the one that has to reach out and be ok with that. I have been a single Mom since she was very small. Life I have learned in all my years has a way of throwing wrenches in where you least expect them.
In 2022, I battled and won against Neuroendocrine Cancer. I had a total of 31 tumors removed along with 2 lymph nodes, some mesentry and 3ft of small intestine. Two weeks after my cancer surgery that May, I had a Widowmaker Heart Attack. Stemi with SCAD and found out almost a year later I have FMD (Fibromuscular Displasia), I am in first stage heart failure and I also have MCAS/MCAD (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome/Disease) from my Cancer battle. I had to long term be on Prednisone for almost 2 years, it gave me steriod induced type 2 diabetes. I am on several antihistamines for the mast cell and I have to carry multiple epipens everywhere with me. I can become anaphylactic at any time for any reason. My cancer is not an if it will return, but a when. So far so good. But I have had symptoms creeping back in and need some further testing that insurance will not cover. After the discounts, assistance and grants they can get me, it will still be over $1800 out of pocket. Down from the $8000 it would have been, but still more than I have up front. We are on top of it but I have had to put this testing off over a year and it needs to get done soon. I have the best team in the country at the University of Iowa and trust somehow it will work out. I have to take medications for all the chronic conditions (23 total prescriptions, insulin and 2 weekly injections) daily. The cost of those has gone up hundreds since last year. I cannot live without them. So the unexpected turn of price and insurance changes has rocked my budget hard and I have struggled to get some of them covered along with the mortgage which also increased drastically in Jan due to escrow, and trying to repair our 16 year old and 20 year old vehicles after they both had accidents 3 weeks apart. The damage could be repaired for less than my deductibles, but those deductibles and costs are more than I have planned for.
Typically we get by. We have had help in the past that I am eternally grateful for. Yes, I promise you have I checked every single avenue govt or private prior to this gofundme event. I would not have started it without a shove from others and making sure all avenues of possible help and assistance were checked out and responded. I am humbling myself and asking for your help now. I have been doing everything in my power to get on top of it all, taking on extra work, selling things we don't need, cutting expenses, seeing what meds I can get by without for a short time. But it hasn't been enough for all on my plate.
This amount covers my meds for the next two months, repairing the vehicles completely and my testing at U of Iowa. I also have other avenues I am still trying to raise as much as I can as soon as I can so I can rest easier. So far little to no avail.
If you can support in any way to get my medicine costs and vehicles back on track and help keep our basic needs met, I cannot even begin to thank you. It is what it is, I hate asking for help. Before my health issues I was very independent. I have had to learn it is ok to ask for help. If you cannot, that is ok! I totally understand. But if you could share it or spread the word to anyone that might be in a position to help, I appreciate you just the same.
Thank you again for taking the time to read and visit. I am trying so hard to get there and keep things ok at home and with my health. Bless you and I hope you have a wonderful day!
