It seems like every time you turn on the television these days there’s another tragic story about how awful someone or some group of people has been treated because of their skin color, their ethnicity or the religion they practice. Well I want to draw your attention to the Walnut Ridge High School Scots Soccer team who has proven unequivocally we can ALL get along no matter our differences.
The Walnut Ridge Scots Soccer Team is one of the most diverse soccer programs you can find and have been that way for decades. We have had players and coaches throughout our history who were born in more than 20 different countries, spoken dozens of different languages and practiced a myriad of different religions. For most of these players a bond is created through their time on the team that will last the rest of their lives. The current group is no different featuring players from seven different countries who practice both Christianity and Islam. The one feature is that even with their intrinsic differences they get along with, respect and accept one another as individuals.
With that being said the Walnut Ridge High School Scots Soccer team is starting this GoFundMe campaign with the hope that through the generosity of people like you we will be able to purchase new uniforms and some much needed equipment. We are located on the far eastside of Columbus (Ohio), in an area of the city that has seen a major economic decline over the last twenty years. Unfortunately this decline has led to 76% of our students being considered ‘economically disadvantaged.’
In years past the Walnut Ridge High School Scots Soccer team has tried diligently to raise funds in various manners with little success. Needless to say a major reason for this lack of success is the fact that when so many people are struggling to simply put food on the table and a roof over their heads they’re not going to be able to purchase countless candy bars, tubs of cookie dough or $20 coupon books.
Please remember no donation is too small and we will ensure every penny is put to good use to help us continue the Walnut Ridge High School Scots Soccer team tradition of unity led by these exceptional young people.
Thanks and GO SCOTS!
