Jason’s Celebration of Life

As most of you will know Jason had a kidney transplant in April 2016. His care prior to that on dialysis at the Wrexham Maelor hospital and post transplant has been second to non.

The love and support shown by staff has been amazing and so when I read an email saying that they are fundraising for the Kidney Patient Association I knew it would have been something Jason would definitely get involved in. Therefore instead of flowers at this celebration of his life please honour his generosity and kindness in helping others by donating what small change you have.

As they aren’t yet a charity in their own right this seems the best way to collate donations.

Wrexham Maelor Kidney Patients Association is run on a voluntary basis by a team of kidney patients, transplant recipients, donors, and carers. Combined, we offer a wealth of knowledge and experiences of different kidney issues. All for the benefit of renal patients and their families of Wrexham Maelor hospital and its satellite units.

Wrexham Maelor Kidney Patients Association aims to represent and raise local issues on the behalf of the Renal Patients, their families and any anyone involved with their care – and also to raise public awareness of the difficulties of living with renal problems and its effect on their families.

We advise and direct patients to services and organisations that may be of help to them and their families for example social workers, counsellors, dietitians, and other agencies who are concerned with health, social care and wellbeing of patients and their families.

Our aim is to offer social events such as coffee mornings \ afternoons and other social events both within the hospital and outside to give an opportunity to get together with other people who are going through similar experiences and give an opportunity to have a chat, share advice and to support each other.

We are fundraising to buy equipment that is important to patients and further help and benefit the lives of our patients and their families.
