Hi! My name is Charleigh, and I’m 13 years old. My dad and I are restoring a 1974 Volkswagen Beetle together in our garage. We call her Rusty Red. My dad is retired military, and we’ve moved a lot — kind of like dandelions, growing wherever we land. That’s why I named this project Wrenching Dandelion.
This car isn’t just a car. It’s where I’m learning how engines work, how to use tools, how to fix things, and how not to give up. We’re rebuilding this Beetle from the ground up — cleaning parts, fixing rust, replacing seals and wiring, and slowly bringing her back to life. Restoring an old car costs money for parts, tools, safety gear, and materials, and my dad is always reminding me how important it is to make the end result as safe as possible.
So instead of just asking for help, I started sharing our journey on YouTube, Facebook and TikTok. If you support us, you’re not just donating — you’re becoming part of the build. Every part on this car will exist because someone believed in me. Thank you for being part of my story.
