Charity Hair Cut
The 5th Elul (25th August) marks the first Yahrtzeit of my Grandma - a truly wonderful woman who passed away from cancer. I was extremely close to her, and recall the pride she took in her appearance, and how she would love to take me on shopping trips and spoil me. One of the many painful moments of her treatment was when she lost her hair, which was especially difficult for someone who frequented the hairdresser every week, and loved the regular social event that it became.
In her honour, I have chosen to donate my hair to Zichron Menachem, a charity who will use it to make a free custom-made wig for children suffering with cancer. It is one of many ways that they help to reduce the indignity and suffering of those afflicted with this disease, and I know from watching my Grandma how much this can mean to someone during such a difficult period of their lives.
Alongside donating my hair, I'm raising money in aid of THE BRITISH FRIENDS OF ZICHRON MENACHEM and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
More information about THE BRITISH FRIENDS OF ZICHRON MENACHEM: Zichron Menachem brings joy and support to children with cancer. In our House of Dreams they enjoy social, educational and rehabilitative activities including parties, music and a pet therapy garden. Days out are arranged for them and their siblings. Free custom-made wigs are provided for the children. Sleepaway camp is held 3 times a year. Being in a happy frame of mind has proven to be an aid in their physical recovery. Parents enjoy a respite trip where they give support to one another.
