The Walcott (family of 5) has experienced one hardship after another leaving them in a financially and emotionally depleted and vulnerable place.
In the last 18 months they have gone through foreclosure on their home of 25+ years, unexpected job loss and most recently emergency surgery on December 24 to amputate Don's big toe to prevent a life threatening bone infection from spreading.
Between foreclosure on their home and sudden job loss in November the Walcott family was struggling financially even before this latest medical setback. (They have lived without a clothing dryer and other conveniences for several months due to lack of financial resources to purchase a replacement.)
Don recently started working for a new employer and has not been employed for the required 90 day period to receive insurance/disability benefits. They currently have an interim catastrophic (very high deductible) medical insurance policy. They are facing thousands of dollars in medical bills from surgery/hospitalization in 2019 and then even more expense when their deductible renews in January as Don receives ongoing/potentially long term medical care well into 2020.
Further compounding the hardship is Don's need to take (at least) 4 weeks off of work (completely unpaid) as his foot heals from surgery. Because Don has type 1 diabetes (genetic) it is expected (and early indications suggest) that the healing process will take significantly longer than average.
A lifetime of more hardship than average has taught the Walcott's a lot about trusting God in times of trouble. It has also made the Walcott family especially sensitive to those who are facing hardship. They understand the desperation and vulnerability first hand and have self sacrificially been "the village" for others in need.
Due to factors outside of their control they find themselves in a situation where their greatest efforts will not add up to the financial resources they need to stay on top of their bills, provide for their family's basic needs and keep their modest home.
The Walcott family is so grateful for the prayers of so many for healing and provision. They need their community to wrap their loving arms around them and be the hands and feet of Jesus in physical/tangible ways to help carry them through this current storm.
All donations will be gratefully used toward the Walcott family's living expenses while Don is off work recovering and their monumental medical debt.
Hebrews 13:16
And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
