Update 8/18:
Earlier this week (8/15) Lindsay went in got more tests done ruling out GI cancer, which we were all so glad to hear. While she still has a long road ahead fighting ovarian cancer this was a huge relief.
Yesterday (8/17) she spent nearly 10 hrs in surgery and will spend the next 3-4 days in recovery. They originally planned to remove the cysts laparoscopically but found they were packed too tightly together and decided to make a larger incision. Luckily they did because they were able to find more and discovered there were some on her colon as well. After many hours they were able to remove all the tumors they could see or find and did end up removing a portion of her colon.
This sounds scary, however the doctor explained that the risk of infection when doing this procedure is roughly 5-10%(fairly low). The risk of complications is equally as low. And the recovery has only a 10% risk of further issues during the healing process.
The positive here is she will be nearly completely tumor free and the remaining cells will likely be handled with some chemotherapy.
However, this will likely be a harder recovery for her and they anticipate she’ll stay in the hospital for 3-4 days. This recovery will likely take much longer than anticipated but ultimately a huge positive in that they were able to remove those tumors.
Overall the doctors deemed it a very successful surgery.

Our amazing friend and sister, Lindsay Swing was just diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She is at the beginning of a long battle that no one should have to fight.
If you know Lindsay you know she is one of the most colorful, talented and loving humans you will ever meet. Everyone she meets it’s drawn to her exuberant personality. She has a wonderful community of friends, family and artists around the country, and is going to need all of our support over the coming months.
We have started this Go Fund Me in hopes to ease the financial burden that will come with Lindsay’s diagnosis. Over the next weeks and months ahead she will endure countless doctor appointments, chemo treatments, surgeries and hospital visits. As you can imagine this limits the amount of art she will be able to produce and sell. We want to make sure she is focused on healing and not stressing over her bills.
We are asking you to support her any way you can - donate here, visit her site and buy a piece of art, share this link, or just send her a message and let her know you care. We thank you all for your support and are grateful for every one of you!

Health Update from Lindsay:
“I was recently diagnosed with cancer. Although I’m lucky to have caught it early, I will be undergoing surgery + treatment for the next 8 months to a year. (Best case)
I will be trying to make it to shows if I am capable, and do web updates when I can. This will slow my ability to work+ drastically affect my income for the next year
I will be starting a Go Fund me and having an art auction to help alleviate financial stress while I focus on healing.
A little back story for those of you that don’t know me as well. For the past year+ I have been trying to figure out what was going on with my body. I kept getting told that it was nothing or that it was just my body getting older. But I knew in my gut it was more, and when it comes to my health and my body, my gut is usually right. I kept telling friends and doctors that I could tell my body was off and that something was wrong.
In July this year I went to get my IUD placement checked because I was having pelvic pain. One test lead to another, and they finally found a series of growths inane around my uterus and ovaries. As of now we are hoping it’s just ovarian cancer, I have one more test to rule out a much scarier, but unlikely diagnosis. But I will update everyone as I know more.
The most common symptoms of ovarian cancer are so minimal… fatigue, loss of appetite or filling up fast, and bloating after eating. This cancer often goes unnoticed because these symptoms can be masked as soma y other things. But I know my body and 5e amount of fatigue as well as my other symptoms were dramatic.
The point being, listen to your body. You know it better than anyone else. If you feel like something is off, keep going in, keep pushing for answers, keep trying new paths to get the help you need.
Thank you guys for always being so amazing and supportive to me. This adventure isn’t going to be the most fun, but having a community of support around me makes all the difference in the world”
