Financial help for medical and living expenses for Micah
Hello. I am Micah Carnes' aunt, and I am concerned about my nephew's financial situation and health.
Here is Micah's story. Micah was diagnosed with Stage 4 Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the tongue in January. Due to the COVID-19 virus limiting access to hospitals in southeast Michigan, Micah could not be helped in Michigan. Instead, he was referred to an out-of-state facility. At the Cleveland Clinic, roughly 85-90% of his tongue and 90% of his lymph nodes were removed. A feeding tube was also inserted, which he will have for the rest of his life. He has just completed radiation and chemo treatments. He will have to undergo further surgery when he is strong enough to handle it to address the additional thyroid cancer discovered during the tongue surgery.
At this time, Micah has applied for Social Security Disability, which is still pending. He has obviously not been able to work and has not been able to earn any income since January. Micah's mom (my oldest sister, Michelle Potvin Carnes Herron) and her husband Ken have been helping Micah as much as they possibly can, but both are retired and on a fixed income.
We are looking for monetary assistance and your prayers until Micah's Disability request gets approved. Anything that you can do would be much appreciated. And, as we all know, God is the Ultimate Healer, so your PRAYERS are truly appreciated!! That is what is going to get Micah through all of this!!
