This is very hard to do. First of all it's not something we thought we would ever have to be going through. My husband Roger has always been an awesome provider for our family but as of Nov. of 2011 we found out he had stage 4 Squamous Cell Carcinoma Cancer. It started on his vocal cords and he had extensive surgery to remove it Jan. of 2012. They removed his Jugular, Carotid Artery, and his muscle from the neck to the shoulder on his left side. He went through Chemo and Radiation, 7 months later found out that it spread to his lung. They opted to go in and remove the small spot, with doing so it spread to both lungs, ribs and chest wall. A tumor has been growing rapidly on his ribs, he's had 3 nerve block injections to stop the pain, which have not worked.
As of Oct. 2015 it has spread more in his lungs, his liver, kidney, and spine. They have tried any and all treatments available, different studies in Yale New Haven and Cancer Treatment Centers of America. They have stopped all treatment because the cancer is incurable, he's in constant pain. New years day this year he was admitted into the hospital, due to Pneumonia. His lungs collasped, and they put a draining tube into his lungs to remove fluid which was in for 9 days. He lost a total of 20lbs in the 3 weeks he was in the hospital due to not eating. They had to give him a feeding tube, and oxygen which he will now be on everyday.
He had extensive radiation on his neck from initial surgery that damaged his Esophagus which causes him to choke when eating or drinking and leads to aspirated Pneumonia. In the past few years he has lost well over 100lbs.
He hasn't been able to work since Oct 2015, I only work a 10 month part time job. We have accumulated so many medical bills that we are unable to pay. We have been struggling to pay our bills. It's hard for him to realize that the things that used to come easy for him to do, he can no longer do. It's heart breaking to see him go through this because he was always so strong and active. It is so hard to watch him go through this. All he keeps saying is he wants to watch his grandkids grow up. It's so unfair we were supposed to grow old together and cancer is robbing us of that. He has always gone out of his way to help people without expecting anything in return, now he needs help because he is afraid we won't be able to afford our house that he worked so hard for.He isn't the type of person to ask for help, but we don't know what else to do.If you could look into your hearts to help us out we would greatly appreciate it.No amount is too small. Please share our story so that others might be able to help us too. Thank you from the bottom of my families hearts!
