Heidi is off to camp!!!! Many of you know Heidi was born with cerebral palsy. She has been blessed with a very mild case but challenging none the less. This up and coming week Heidi has been been accepted to attend a camp at Chapel Hill for kids with hemiplegia (loss of use on one side of body). At camp Heidi will be castee on her strong side and be using her weak side in order to strengthen it and hopefully develope memory of the left sides abilities and then continue with using it. She will work very hard from 9-3 everyday for 10 days. Heidi will have an OT and a PT along side her the whole week and will be given an expert treatment plan for home. Her goals this week will be; learning to ride a bike, jumping(simultaneously), running without falling (very hard for her at this point), climbing, getting dressed without help using buttons and zippers, braiding and tying, eating and drinking, picking up coins and such with her weak hand, and other challenging tasks that her brain is currently telling her she can't do. Heidi is excited and terrified as well. As of now, after each exhausting day, Heidi and I will be driving home and then back to camp each morning as we can not afford hotel accommodations plus food and gas. This is where you come in. We are asking for our friends and family to prayerfully consider helping Heidi with her week at camp. It would be best for her to be able to rest each night to prepare for the next days camp. Whatever you feel led to do will be extremely helpful and appreciated. Please pray for her courage and confidence this week!!! Thank you all!!!
