Family Support Needed

We come to you asking for your love, prayers, and support for a family in need.
Not only loved and well known as a brother to the biker community and all the friends he has acquired through the years, but he is also a loving husband, father and son to a family standing by his side, needing your help as he missions through this journey.
It has not been long since his father, also well known to the biker community as aka: “SANTA” recently passed during the covid pandemic due to problematic illness complications. As a result, he found himself supporting his entire family. This took a toll on the family in many ways. The grief not only that he had lost the man he looked up to, but his family was also suffering. Supporting his two little girls, wife (dealing with her own medical conditions) and disabled mother, he knew he had to be the primary financial support for them all.
Things recently started to look up. Finally, good things were coming, and some of that burden feeling was beginning to look like there would be room to breathe.
Excited to share the news, Greg, a dedicated hard worker, recently found an opportunity in his mechanic career that was offered and set up with his transfer to be in just the next couple of weeks. He was thrilled to know his hard work was finely paying off, and he looked forward to seeing where his new career path was leading him.
Everything seemed to be looking up, and then the worst thing that
could have happen, happened.
On August 24th, 2022 Greg woke up early as he always did, got dressed to start the day, kissed his wife, (Jess) and two little girls foreheads as they lay in bed, still sleeping to ensure not to wake them and heading outside. He started up his motorcycle and got ready for his morning ride to work. This was his morning coffee. Hearing her engine got his heart beating and ready for his day. He wouldn’t see it no other way but to enjoy the ride he took with his bike every day. He placed his helmet on his head and started off to his current job that he would be at for the next couple of weeks before the transfer. He was taking his regular drive as he did every morning. Driving, taking in the morning wake-up time, thinking about all the good things to come.
As he was driving and almost to work, out of nowhere, a car decided not to stop at the stop sign and plunged into him head-on, putting him and his bike to a complete stop. The damage was almost unbearable even to view. The entire bike was totaled, and the front of the car was crushed, not to mention, that poor Greg’s body was mangled in the middle of all of this.
The road was shut down for a moment in time as the paramedics arrived in order to access and help the injured. At this time, the only help they could see to save Greg’s life was to call in a helicopter. Airlifted to Holmes Reginal to save his life, his mother received the phone call.
The mother was contacted and told of the horrific news. This is not the news any mother or, in fact, anyone wants to hear. Frantically she ran in to wake her daughter-in-law to inform the information she had just received. Jess, woken to listen to this news, went into a complete frenzy, knowing she needed to get to her husband as quickly as possible. He needed her, and he needed her Now! Getting the news that the man of her life had just been in a horrible accident, she scattered herself to run to the hospital, broken down in tears to make sure she could be his support in this time as he is always there for her and their family.
Some good news. When Jess arrived, he begged to see his wife. He had been calling out for her, and the hospital immediately pulled her back to see him as she entered the doors. He was able to talk. This was a good sign. He remembered what happened, and he knew he had been hit badly. The one and only good thing to allow his capability to be coherent were that the helmet kept his head intact.
She looked at her husband with tears in her eyes while he constantly apologized to her for this happening. He never thought he would find himself unable to be there to support his family, and now he has found himself getting ready to battle the most significant journey in his life in the months to come. At this same time, he looked at his wife Jess and said, I can’t feel anything from my waist down, and I think I am paralyzed. Hearing these words from her husband’s mouth, her heart broke to no degree. She knew he had absolutely nothing to apologize for. He was alive and still able to talk, so to her, this was hope. Whatever comes from here will find its way to work. He need not worry about them but focus on himself and his healing process.
Sedated and incubated, the hospital had to start putting Greg back together. One of many surgeries began, and the most vital was getting the veins closed. His aorta and another vein were severely ruptured and needed to be stented.
Many hours passed as his wife stood by waiting for the news, never leaving his side even from a room distance and a chance to see him again. Finally, the news came that the first surgery went well. But this was just the beginning. The rest of his body has been broken all over. The back was their next concern. Later that evening, they went into a 7-hour plus procedure with blood transfusions and hospital staff working diligently to locate everything they could to fix the broken vertebrae along Greg’s back. Many were fused, and some discs had to be removed entirely to allow room for the spinal cord. This was also where they found Greg’s worry that he may be paralyzed came into play. His spinal cord had been severely damaged in the thoracic area of his back.
In between surgeries, his wife Jess has been allowed to come spend time with him. Not even taking a moment to sleep, she is ready to run to the room to be by his side, as he has been her only concern. Even under sedation, Greg can hear her voice and shows he knows she is there.
And yet another surgery to go. Now we have to put the bones back together. A broken arm. A broken leg with a compound fracture and an above knee fracture. Many, many rib fractures. Again, off to surgery. They wanted to wait a day since he had already battled two intense surgeries the day before. He was brought back into OR to proceed with the next surgery, which went well.
Back to his room where his wife Jess sits by his side, waiting for the next step and assuring her husband as she whispers to him how much she loves him, that he is doing good and will be with them soon. Letting him know how strong of a fighter he is and that he now needs to rest.
The next step is to awake. Here the family waits to have the neurologist approve the sitting up and removing sedation. And after that, we do not know. There will be much for Greg and his family to battle through, but the good news is that he is alive. He is alive and has a family who loves him so much. He will have their love and support through it all.
Greg will worry about the financial hardship that will be coming as he is unable to support them as he has always done while he slowly regains himself through all of this. The medical expenses will be a lot to bare. Bills will need to be paid. Food will need to be placed on the table for his children and so much more. He will not know if he will be capable of ever getting the job he so much was looking forward to if he is unable to walk again. The many other things to come as he has a long road to recovery.
Jess is already prepared to find as much work as possible when she sees a good time to do so but her priority right now is not to leave his side.
We are asking for your help now. However, you can contribute your support to Greg and his family. Whether through prayer, support, or a financial contribution, these are all truly appreciated. This is not something that will be resolved in a day or a month and without knowing, possibly not even a year.
We hope to see progress with great faith and wish only the best for Greg and his family.
Thank you so much for reading about Greg’s story, and thank you in advance for all your support.
With much love
