APRIL’S HEART & HEALTH JOURNEY
Hello everyone. My name is April Chaco-Charfauros Tibajares, and I wish to share a deeply personal aspect of my healthcare journey. Recently, I was discharged from Guam Memorial Hospital following a mild stroke. Since I was just 11 months old, I've been navigating life with a congenital heart condition—a pulmonary valve defect—that has shaped my journey in countless ways.
I am now preparing for a significant procedure: open-heart surgery to repair or replace my small pulmonary valve with an adult-sized one, addressing a leakage that has increasingly impacted my health and requires medical attention on the mainland. This surgery is vital for my future well-being.
Before I can proceed, I must consult with several specialists—neurologists, cardiologists, and others —to ensure my body is in the best possible condition. Unfortunately, all these medical expenses add up quickly, making it tough to keep up financially.
Asking for help is difficult for me. With great humility, I’m reaching out to kindly ask for your support—whether it’s through a donation, sharing my story, or just keeping me in your thoughts and prayers. Your kindness means the world to me. Every gesture of compassion and generosity brings me closer to healing and a better, healthier life.
From the bottom of my heart, I sincerely thank everyone who has already shown me love and support during this time. My family and I are incredibly grateful. Every day is a blessing, and I value each moment and act of kindness. Thank you for being part of my journey.
