Hello, my 7-month-old daughter was just diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson's-White Syndrome, causing Supra-ventricular tachycardia (SVT). Her heart has an extra electric strip causing it to short circuit and speeds up instantaneously. Her highest was recorded at 305 in the ER. We spent eight days at Cook Children's Hospital Ft Worth in the CICU, where she was monitored, and we started treatment. After some trial and error with different medications, we found what seems to be a good match for her. However, one of the meds does have some hefty side effects that will require close monitoring. On top of the thousands we will owe for the hospital stay itself, she needs to see a cardiologist monthly, have blood work done to monitor the side effects of the meds, and see an ophthalmologist. She has been denied Medicaid multiple times, and even the social worker at the hospital cant see why. I am a full-time student and unemployed. I plan to work after school; however, now she needs medications administered five times daily, and her heart monitored at least three times daily. The two heart monitors (one for sleep, one for awake) already have been $600. Her drugs are $150 a month, and she will need them for at least a year before she can be eligible for a procedure that could cure her. Lola is the light in so many lives, and we are all shocked at how this last week has changed our world. Any help is appreciated as we navigate this new chapter.
