Jaryd Robinson was a full-time student at UHCL, working on a degree in history, so he could teach high school history and coach swim. He also worked part-time to support himself. Suddenly, he began to feel intense pain in his upper abdomen, which would cease after a day or two. Without insurance, he put off going to the doctor until one night in October 2016 when the pain was so intense, he went to the nearest emergency room. What followed has been a nightmare for Jaryd and his family.
Jaryd was admittede to Clear Lake Regional Medical Center with a diagnosis of acute pancreatitis on October 11, 2016, and he seemed to get better for the first few days. Then...he crashed. His pancreas was swollen to five times its normal size. One of his doctors described it as "looking like dog meat." Jaryd went into the ICU, was put on a respirator, and one doctor told Jaryd's family "to prepare for the worst." For five weeks, Jaryd was in ICU, fighting for his life.
Finally, on December 9th, Jaryd was sent home with two tubes draining fluid from his abdomen. He was home for nine days before his drains became infected and his mother took him to Baylor St. Luke's Hospital in the Medical Center in Houston, where he was admitted. After undergoing several procedures, and after another 3 1/2 weeks in the hospital, Jaryd returned home on January 11, 2017, weighing only 125 lbs.
Jaryd's medical bills are over 2 million dollars, and even though he now has insurance, he needs help.
He has a long road to recovery and any funds you donate he will use to pay his medical providers. They saved his life. Please help him.
