Update:

Thanks to everyone who has donated we were able to buy the house in New York and hit the road. We made it 2-300 miles and had a horrible accident. Ian was driving our truck with the trailer and all of our animals and the tire popped, causing him to lose control and rolling onto the side of the road. I was behind him in the car with all the kids and watched the whole thing. Thank goodness everyone was fine, including all of our animals. One of our cats ran out of the car because his carrier opened in the wreck and we are still looking for him.

We are spending the next few days in Irving, Texas trying to figure out what of our belongings are salvageable and how we are going to get our things and everyone to New York.

At the end of February I was laid off from work. We immediately knew we could no longer afford to live in our house because it was getting too expensive already so we got to work on selling it.

I expected to get a job in time to qualify for a mortgage on a smaller house but by summer I was still out of work.

We found a small fixer upper in the middle of nowhere in upstate New York that we could afford to pay cash for outright using the last bit of cash we had from selling our house and cashing out my 401k. The timing was going to be perfect and we had just enough money to get our kids and our animals up there, buy the house, and spend a few thousand dollars getting it livable.

We sold or donated nearly everything we owned and packed what was left into a small trailer, we were ready to hit the road on the 1st (my birthday) and then our truck broke down.

It's been to two mechanics and now is at the Ford dealership, they had to order a part and we are stuck in Texas spending cash we need to close on our new house on getting the truck fixed and paying for accomodations. And now of course one of the dogs (who is already blind) needs to go to the vet because her eye is bulging and red.

We're now at risk of losing out on the new house, having to rehome all of our animals, and using that little bit of cash we have to maybe buy an RV or moving in to a small condo with my mom in Florida (hi mom). We don't have a permanent address right now and I'm in between benefits from Texas to New York because we expected to be gone by now.

We're barely holding on to what little we have left and could really use help if you are able.
