Th Brinkley family has grown by two! Aiden and Jaxon Brinkley joined the world on December 23rd, 2019. While Cori was pregnant it was discovered that Aiden had a birth defect called Congenital Diaphragmatic  Hernia (CDH). What this means is that there was a hole in his diaphragm which allowed for his organs to move through and continue growing in the space that his lungs needed to develop. Fortunately Aiden was able to receive surgery on Christmas day and was a true Christmas miracle and was only in surgery for a little over two hours. Aiden spent a month recovering at Children’s Hospital and is now home but will continue to need to receive care there while he grows to ensure that the patch that the surgeon put in place to repair the hole remains intact and functioning properly. His development will be monitored to ensure that he keeps up with his brother. As one can imagine, the medical bills that this has incurred have been considerable. Cori had to leave work towards the end of her pregnancy to rest and Sean has had to take an unexpected amount of time off of work to be with Aiden and to also help care for Jaxon who went home a week after birth. This journey has been extremely taxing mentally, physically, and financially but we are beyond thankful for the two little additions to the family. That being said, the family could use some support and any little bit helps!
