Would You Have Survived The Titanic? - Open Sauce 2025 Booth

Donation protected
Edit: Goal met! Thank you all so much for your help! I can hardly express how grateful I am! With this funding, the booth is full steam ahead! As I said in the description, any extras I receive will go towards additional goodies for the booth, but I do understand if the motivation to donate has pretty much disappeared, now that I've met my goal, but again, thank you all so much!

Hello, everyone!
I’m Mr. Kite—a maker, storyteller, and Titanic nerd with a dream: to bring an interactive, handmade Titanic-themed booth to Open Sauce 2025!

What will this booth feature?

1. Titanic Quiz Station with Results Badges & Titanic People Cards
Take part in an interactive quiz and discover what your fate would've been on the Titanic! Based on your responses, you’ll receive a collectible badge displaying your result, as well as a card featuring a real Titanic passenger or crew member, along with fascinating details about their life aboard the ship!

2. Door (Frame) Challenge
We’ve all wondered if Jack could've fit on the door (frame) with Rose in the 1997 film, but have you ever wondered if you could've? Find out for yourself with a full-size replica of the door (frame), mounted on springs to simulate the unstable movement of the water! See how you fare and imagine what it was like for those stranded in the freezing cold!
Fun Fact: It’s not actually a door!.The famous ‘door’ is a piece of decorative wood paneling from above the entrance to the first-class lounge.

3. Freezing Water Tub
Feel the chill of the Titanic disaster with a tub of water set to -2°C—just like the freezing conditions passengers endured! You’ll only be dipping your hand in, but it’s enough to give you a taste of the brutal temperatures those who survived had to fight against!

I’ve already covered about half the cost and construction so far (think: hours of building, gluing, printing, and painting). But to cross the finish line and get this thing up and running for the show, I could use a little help from you!

Where the Money Will Go:

I’m asking for $550 to help finish the booth. Here’s how it breaks down:
  • $290 to cover the materials I already bought on credit.
  • Materials for the tilting door (frame) replica, including: 2x4s, plywood, and interlocking foam mats (to protect anyone who falls off!)
  • Two more monitors for the quiz stations (I’ll be looking for cheap ones from Goodwill)
  • Two basic computer mice
  • Craft wood from Dollar Tree to build the result badge dispenser cases
  • Refill supplies like CA glue for badges and printer ink for the character cards

Anything extra will go toward bonus items like:
  • Replica life vests for photo ops
  • Better signage
  • Parking, food, or emergency funds for the weekend itself

How Else You Can Help:
If you’d prefer to donate materials instead of money, I’d be incredibly grateful! Feel free to reach out if you have any of the necessary items, or if you know of any suppliers or discounts that could help. Any connections or suggestions are always welcome!

Of course, if you’d prefer to contribute financially, your donation will go directly toward purchasing the remaining materials and covering debts from previous purchases.

Thank you so much for considering supporting my project!
Every little bit helps, whether it’s a donation, sharing this page with friends, or offering advice and connections. I can’t wait to bring this booth to life and share it with you all at Open Sauce 2025!

Thank you for being part of this adventure!
