OUR FOREST- Connecting Globally, Growing Locally
Donation protected
My name is Tenywa Samuel. I'm a climate justice advocate from Uganda. I provide support for young people from all over the world to join forces and oppose climate change, as a person living in Africa, where climate change is a very real threat and claiming many lives and flooding with drought being so challenging killing biodiversity in Uganda and Africa at large
Started up a simple
Tree planting project in schools and community
When found a serious problem that needed immediate attention. People cutting down trees in order to make quick cash, fuel, largely because they didn't understand the critical environmental and social value of trees. This creates desert and drought, which is a grave problem. Realization prompted me to mobilize fellow youths and encourage tree planting in schools and communities
Since then, I've planted more than 7600 trees, visiting 20 schools teaching young people about climate change.
CHALLENGES
My biggest challenge is having trees that can be planted in schools and community without missing the different rain season and due to this I have opt to setting up nursery beds where we shall have free trees to give out to schools and communities for free since trees are expensive to buy
Not having transportation facilitation/Means to be able take all the trees to different places in the communities and schools
Climate uniform (tshirts) to make the whole project look uniform but also make all the different people to work with same not to have anyone feeling out of place, Forest conferences and webinar where we are to educate youth about climate change and how they can take action to same nature and forest to have Human-Forest coexistence
Our funding is doing well with a small cents on is helping us to develop more seedlings for our next season where we tend to do forest in schools and communities this will have both fruit trees and indigenous trees to fight for climate change
Updates:
We thank you all for your generous donations. With your support, we have successfully established two forests, and we are pleased to report that they are thriving. Our goal is to foster increased biodiversity and provide crucial habitats for wildlife in these areas.
In addition to reforestation efforts, we have been actively engaging with local youth and communities, educating them on the importance of coexisting harmoniously with forests. Currently, we are focusing on implementing a beekeeping project within these forests.
Your continued support and contributions are invaluable as we work towards sustainable environmental practices and conservation efforts. Together, we are making a positive impact on our forests and the communities that depend on them. Thank you for being a part of this journey with us.
