Worried Sick...join the fight against OCD!

My name is Kyra, and I’m a senior in high school. I am raising funds for the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF). (Since I'm not an adult, my mother will accept the funds and disburse them to the IOCDF.)

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a debilitating disorder that consists of a pattern of unwanted thoughts and fears (obsessions) that lead you to do repetitive behaviors (compulsions). These obsessions and compulsions significantly interfere with daily life activities and cause considerable anxiety and distress. The compulsive behaviors are done to alleviate the fear or anxiety, but they only offer temporary relief, and the more you do them, the stronger OCD becomes. It’s a vicious cycle. There is no cure for OCD, but it can be controlled with medication and/or Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), but it is extremely difficult. It is essential that OCD sufferers receive the support and care they need to overcome this debilitating disorder.

I have had OCD for most of my life, but I struggled significantly over the past five years. During the summer of 2021, my compulsions took up a large part of my days, and the intrusive thoughts never ceased. My mom was worried that I wouldn’t be able to finish high school. It was a difficult time, but I worked hard and made it my mission to reduce OCD’s impact on my life through extensive ERP and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). My OCD controlled and isolated me for many years, and now I want to help others.

At IOCDF, your donation will benefit those affected by OCD and related disorders. Every dollar directly provides valuable programs and resources that help those living with OCD get the support and help they need.

Please join me in raising funds for IOCDF!
