Red Heart Tree CIC and World's End Forest Garden

Donation protected
We are raising money to propagate permaculture forest gardens.

RHT CIC {company no. 12394253} Rooted in Penwith, inspired by Cornish skies and blossoming beside the wild western sea.

We offer help by email, by visiting sites including small gardens, and by invitation to our demonstration site.

World's End Forest Garden is a venue for tours, volunteers (singly and in groups), nature trails and courses. In times of C19, the spacious outdoor setting allows the extra benefit of safe socialising.

As a community project we welcome participation in discussion and decision making, and seek to respect each persons preferred balance of gardening, quiet time and sharing experience/learning. It is integral to the project that we cooperate to create a healing/health maintaining environment. We welcome messages, which can be sent below.

We also have eco-themed original poetry, articles and children’s story books available on request.

At World's End Forest Garden our priority has been to plant trees and bushes, including a wide variety of fruit and nut trees, fruit bushes, nitrogen fixers and trees for coppicing and for shelter belts. A few years of maturity not only greatly increases the productivity of individual trees, but also their benefits to the whole garden. Along with hardy evergreens, the shelter belts include a range of trees that are both hardy and produce food for birds, such as Hawthorn, Rowan, Dogwood, Elder, Wild Cherry and Crab apple. Inbetween tree and bush planting we are adding varieties of climbers, vegetables, herbs and other flowering plants for pollinators, and for insects and birds that are predators of potential pests.

We are gradually increasing production of fresh food, culinary and medicinal herbs, preserves, wood, willow withies, and propagated trees, bushes, plants and seeds.

We want to add to this demonstration site to make it more useful. Our planned projects include more terracing, planting for more food and herbs, another orchard area, improving our nature trail, a pond, a wild flower meadow, to finish our tree house bird hide, and to make a poly tunnel. We also want to publish a completed second children's book.

Mission/interrelated purposes:
1) To develop sustainable systems of production for healthy life.
2) To develop resilience to cope with harmful climate change that is unavoidable.
3) To prevent and reverse the global heating that is causing these extreemely dangerous climate changes by managing Carbon. A) By absorption of Carbon from the atmosphere into plant/tree growth and subsequent storage in the soil. B) By active sequestration using composting methods, and harvesting for carpentry, building, and heating that leaves biochar for soil enrichment. C) By preventing further emissions: Local cyclical systems can be described as 'no waste' or as systems in which waste products are also useful materials in the next stage of the cycle. These systems also reduce emissions from travel, transport, packaging.
4) To work with and benefit wildlife and to increase/protect biodiversity.
5) To facilitate exercise, learning skills, fulfilling work, enjoyment of community and appreciation for our environment.
6) To experiment, learn and design for holistic wellbeing. 7) To promote and support more gardens like this.

Donations enable us to continue this work for prosperity in perpetuity. THANK YOU.
