Charity Walk between Goodison Park & Old Trafford

Tax deductible

Isaac O’Connor who is nine years of age has been completing charity events since the age of seven and has so far raised over £17,000

He raised the £12,000 for Alder Hey Childrens Hospital having being inspired by Tyson Fury a couple of years ago. Isaac had met Tyson before his comeback fight in 2017 and had dinner with him and played with his children at the a Village Hotel in Ashton. I have videos and photographs of this meet.

Upon watching the news in the morning during the summer holidays Isaac saw that Tyson’s baby daughter was seriously ill and was in the ICU at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. It was at this time that Isaac came up with the idea to “help all the sick kids” and raise money for the hospital.

The idea was then born for Isaac to walk to the game from his home address to watch his beloved Manchester United play Liverpool. completing a twenty four mile walk to Old Trafford from our home address and a few months later from Old Trafford to Anfield. This was a combined effort of over 50 miles walking for a boy who was aged seven at the time.

Luckily enough on the second walk Bryan Robson joined Isaac and part of the walk.

We were then really pleased when Everton offered us the use of Goodison Park to complete the record.

On the weekend of the 20th May 2023, Isaac and a group of his friends smashed a world record by sitting in every stadium seat at Goodison Park as they raised funds for the Oliver King Foundation.

This idea was again created by Isaac in March 2022 just after the second walk as he wanted to raise money by doing another activity.

The Oliver King Foundation was set up following the death of Oliver at a very young age due to SAD. It is believed that if a defibrillator had been in place then he may have been saved.

This event will be very special to the foundation and Oliver’s family as he was a big Everton fan.

The aim is to raise over £100k to buy 100 defibrillators for the local area.

The reason why Isaac wanted to raise money to buy defibrillators is because he saw first hand on the TV the collapse of Christian Erikson during the Euros. He was then lucky enough to meet Christian and speak to him on which he told him about our charity work.

We chose to raise the money for the Oliver Kind Foundation as they are a fantastic charity who are leaders in the distribution of defibrillators and training of people on them. Isaac also met Mark King and again was greatly moved by his story and how his son Oliver could have been saved if a defibrillator had been available at the time.

We would like local business to get behind this initiative and all fans attending local NW games to donate just a pound to the appeal. Upon reaching out to all local clubs we have had some fantastic messages of support and willingness to be part of this fundraising effort.

A team of Isaac’s friends will join him on this record attempt. They all represent the four big clubs in the NW area United, City, Everton and Liverpool.

Isaac is a life long Manchester United fan and a season ticket holder at the club. The charity walk will take place on the 29/30 and 31st August and will start at Goodison Park the home of the ‘Toffees’ Everton FC.

The aim is to raise as much money as possible for the Oliver King Foundation. This foundation was set up to raise money and awareness of SAD (Sudden arrhythmic death syndrome).

Oliver King was a young 12 year old boy from Liverpool who tragically died whilst at a school swimming lesson a few years ago. He may have survived if a defibrillator had been available.

A defibrillator costs around £1,000 so we have set an ambitious target of raising enough money over the course of the year to buy 100 of them for our local area.

Please donate just a pound to help us achieve our £100k goal!

During this year of fundraising we will be auctioning off some fantastic pieces of memorabilia donated by Jamie Carragher, Manchester United and Darts legend Steve Bunting, as well as, a £500 gift voucher kindly donated by Tesco!
