I have created this to help raise funds to help my beautiful wife achieve something she has trained hard for, here is my wife, Joanne.
Hi, my name is Joanne Carr-Wilkinson, and I am a competitive powerlifter based in Gildersome, Leeds. My journey into the sport of powerlifting began 2-3 years ago when I decided to make time to invest in myself by joining a gym after giving so much to others. Balancing my demanding roles of a full time nurse, mum and competitive powerlifter is a remarkable feat dedicating hours to my family, my patients and training whilst also studying part time for my PhD.
I am currently preparing to represent Britain at the upcoming World Powerlifting Congress, World Powerlifting Championships in Durban, South Africa in November 2025. My journey so far has seen me placed first in the United Kingdom Powerlifting Games 2024 and set a British record for bench press. More recently, in July 2025 I successfully became Masters 2 British Champion at the Full Power British Championships.
Strength is just not physical- it is in showing your daughters that there are no limits on what we can do whilst having a career, furthering your knowledge and caring for a family. Whether it is on the platform, lifting heavy, leading boldly or redefining the stereotype of motherhood I hope to show my girls, their friends and future generations that you can break boundaries and stereotypes through hard work, commitment and consistency.
Participating in national and international competitions entails significant costs with federation membership, kit, travelling expenses and competition entry fees. Your kind donation would help with these costs and my endeavor to compete at the World Powerlifting Championships 2025.
Thank you
