My name is Kyle Richcreek and I'm a lifelong rockhound, lapidary artist since 2012, and self-employed selling rocks and things for nearly 3 years.

To go back a little bit, I started a YouTube channel in 2020 for how to do lapidary and the occasional rockhounding adventure, and I utilized our 14x24 garage for all lapidary purposes and for content making.
I mainly started the channel because, at the time, there weren't all that many lapidary content creators out there.
It was a huge improvement from the little room that I worked out of before we moved into our home back in 2018.
Amy (my wife) asked me if I would ever run out of room and I naively said, "Nah...I should be fine with this space."
OH BOY, was I wrong!
I didn't know that I would end up where I am today.

I was eventually approached by a friend of mine to work with him on and I turned him down due to time constraints.
Sometime later, he approached me with the business idea of selling rocks that he supplies me with. I agreed.

Thusly, I got into selling rocks as a side-gig since I already had a full time job.
Within a few months of starting this venture - I lost my main job and decided to spend more effort into this rock business over finding a new full time job.

A couple years later - my space that was mainly a lapidary shop…was now a shared space with live sales and it was quickly running out of room and became more difficult to navigate and find space for more rocks OR more equipment.

It started out as an idea...and then quickly grew into a dream to add on to the garage and have a dedicated space for the live sales and display of all rocks/specimens and revert the garage back to just lapidary and other fossil stuff, but that was quickly shut down when I was told an absurd price to add a concrete pad, roof, and 3 walls.
A new plan was needed.

So, I looked into shed companies and I found one that could customize what I would need, and I started the process in April.

Turns out, when you live in a town/city, there are so many limitations on where you can or cannot build on your lot.
The structure was also past a specific size, which meant it required a permit and they even needed special geotechnical tests to be done before going forward with anything.
It was beyond stressful...and not necessarily cheap for this process.

Finally...after MONTHS...as of October, the permit ended up being issued for a 14 x 24 new shed and concrete pad.

As I'm writing this, I am currently waiting for the official schedule dates for the concrete pad being started and when the structure is going to be built and roughly delivered.

I will be having someone else do the flooring and hooking up to the power, but I will be doing everything else on the inside: insulation, walls, paint, light fixtures, and shelving.

It's not just a shed - it's a new pathway to the growth of my little family business.

Rocks are my obsession, hobby, and now my sole source of income, and I aim to continue to keep doing what I love.

Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated towards this project.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and helping support a dream.

With Love,
Kyle Richcreek

Why not just get a shipping container?
Hot in the summer, and cold in the winter...and it just would not look nice sitting on the property.

Why not just rent out a retail space?
It doesn't make sense to me financially to spend thousands more per month for retail rental costs, utilities, insurance for that space, and then the cost to convert the interior for a space that I won't even own in the long run.
I want to keep all overhead low.
In addition, I also enjoy working from home and being steps away from my family.
