WORLD FIRST & ONLY GR Yaris Learner Car!!!

Hi there,

 

My name is Clem from DreamWorks Driving School. I've been teaching both auto and manual here in Brisbane since June 2018 with the sole aim to #savethemanuals! Now when I first started, I was naturally very excited, as this meant I got to do car shopping, but choosing something different, that fit my budget and were both similar in auto and manual was very difficult! As a result I picked up the Volkswagen Polo GTi, my first automatic car since getting my licence in 2006. It then wasn't long before I found a VW Golf GTi to become manual workhorse!

 

In September 2020, I was lucky enough to be one of the first 1000 people to be able reserve my 2020 Toyota GR Yaris (in manual of course, but not like it came with any other option) and to my surprise she was ready for delivery in December (a little bit sooner than I had anticipated).

If you haven't heard, the GR Yaris is a homologation special, in other words a rally car, designed for the road. Homolo

gated cars for the WRC must have the same basic bodyshell as a production car but this car is far from basic. Rally legend Tommi Mäkinen, Toyota's WRC team's principal, wanted a lightweight three-door with a lower roofline, a wider rear track, and double wishbones replacing the regular Yaris' torsion beam rear and thus it got the front end of a Yaris and the PHAT rear end of a Corolla! All this is powered by the world's most powerful 1.6L 3 cylinder turbo 4WD pumping out 200kW and 370Nm!

 

Now it's been almost a year since I've had the pleasure of owning this amazing car! In that year I've had the opportunity to attend a number of skid pans, track days, road trips, cruises and with just under 10,000km on the clock, I'm ready to share my love of this car and turn it into a world's first and only driving school car with your help!!
