World Coal Carrying Championships
On Monday 21st April, I will be competing in the World Coal Carrying Championships in aid of the Elizabeth Foundation (for who I owe a great deal).
This race has been a huge part of my life and ultimately what sparked my love for competition. I first took competed when I was 3 years old and been hooked ever since. However, once my rugby career began, I was no longer able to compete (although I still go to watch / support every year!). This year is the first time I am going to run the race since 2017 and what better way to do it for a charity that is close to my heart.
The Elizabeth Foundation offer a wide range of services to support pre-school deaf children and their families across the UK. I literally started with them when I was 3 months old. They would sit me down on a 'music box' so that I could feel sound / vibrations. They helped me build up eye contact, concentration and learn to understand facial expressions. As I got older they helped me develop speech and language. They also supported family with open arms along the way. These are incredible people that genuinely change the lives of young deaf children, giving them the best possible start in life. Without their support I wouldn't be the person I am today.
Any support would mean the world❤️
big love,
