World Championships Fundraiser

My name is Cassidy Hickey. I’m 16 years old and I’m from Parker, Colorado.  I have been athletic since I was 9 years old. I got into sports because I had severe scoliosis and it kept me out of a back brace.  Currently, I participate in cyclocross, draft legal triathlon, cross country running, swimming, road, and mountain bike racing. I am also a Junior at STEM School Highlands Ranch, and I have a passion for engineering and architectural design. I’m a huge animal person, and I love working with them.  My favorite thing about working with animals is being able to volunteer and give back in a way that makes me happy. In the future, I hope to compete in college for both NCAA triathlon and varsity cycling, and I plan to get a degree in Aerospace Science or Architectural Design. I do not have a college picked out yet, but I think Milligan College or Colorado Mesa University would be great schools for me. After college, it is my goal to compete in cycling or triathlon professionally, and I hope to someday use my degree in a career as well.  I’m currently in my third season of cyclocross racing, and I love this discipline for so many reasons. Cyclocross has a community beyond compare. Being a part of the community is one of my favorite aspects of the sport, and I am passionate about sharing what I’ve learned with younger, upcoming junior women.  It’s my goal to do everything I can to support growth and participation in cyclocross by sharing my experiences with others. Cyclocross also provides us with the ability to push new boundaries, both physically and mentally. It is like no other sport that I’ve competed in. What makes it so cool is that the race is never over until it's over, and you can never predict your competition, the conditions, technical mishaps or anything about the races.  That’s what makes the sport so much fun to compete in. I’ve seen a lot of growth and improvement in my performance in cyclocross the last couple of years, and my ultimate goal this year is to compete in the first-ever Junior Women’s Cyclocross World Championship. This would be such a special opportunity to me because I’ve put a lot of effort into becoming the best athlete I can be, and representing the USA at the first ever junior Women’s World Cyclocross Championships is an incredible honor. I’ve always dreamed of representing my country and showcase my hard work on the world stage. In order to get there I need some help covering and paying for flights and other travel expenses that come with traveling to Europe.   I am asking for your help in order to enable me to pursue my athletic passion.  Any amount you can contribute toward my fundraiser is sincerely appreciated, and I am so grateful to the people who have already supported me this far in my journey.
