On March 15th, I will be conducting the Manchester Camerata with Alexandra Dariescu at the piano for a concert of five extraordinary works. Carwithen's 'Piano Concerto' is increasingly recognised as one of the supreme British concertos and alongside it we will be giving performances of works by Elizabeth Maconchy, Morfydd Owen and Ruth Gipps, all of which are currently unrecorded. The chance to record the Concerto with one of our most exciting soloists together with the opportunity to bring three unknown works to a larger audience is a rare one and we have been able to arrange to record the full programme the following week. Unfortunately, institutional funding for such projects is getting harder and harder (even over he last few years) to secure and we are still short of the final total and need your help!
