Internship with Jane Goodall
Donation protected
Hello there! My name is Emma McDevitt and I am currently in my second year at California Polytecnic State University San Luis Obispo studying Biology emphasizing in Field and Wildlife, but enough of that.
Want to hear a story?
I grew up near the San Diego Zoo and when I was a little girl my mother and aunt would always take me on the weekends almost every weekend because I loved it so much. I loved everything about the animals. I loved everything I learned there. That was the beginnning, the beginning of my passion for the environment and endangered species.
All throughout my educational life I soaked up any piece of information I could about animals inhabiting far off places and plants that seem to come from someone's imagination. Along the way I learned about this woman by the name of Jane Goodall. I read about how she was venturing through the forest, observing chimpanzees and teaching people all about what she saw. It was crazy reading about this at 15. I told my self I would meet her some day.
Now, five years later, I HAVE the opportunity to not only meet this women, my inspiration, but to work with her for three whole months. Just two days ago I recieved an email from the Jane Goodall Institute asking me to come to Vienna, VA in TWO WEEKS to work with Jane Goodall and her Office of Founders for three months. Here's the catch, it does not provide housing and there is a lot of monetary issues that have to fall into place for me to go and work at this internship.

So, here I am, asking for all of your help to be able to go work with my inspiration and make a difference in this world at 19 years old!
