I have been teaching for 10 years, the last 5 in Baltimore City. I will be traveling as a Fellow with Limited Resource Teacher Training this summer. Teachers from the US and UK and I will be traveling to Ghana for three weeks over the summer to work with teachers from Ghana who are working with large populations and limited resources.  The goal of LRTT is to increase the quality of sustainable global education through teacher training and as a result strengthen global education. 
 
    Afrikids is a nonprofit organization working in Ghana to ensure the rights of children in Ghana are being met as stated by The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. According to their statistics the average junior school class has 42 students to each teacher, and only 6% of girls finish high school. I hope through LRTT I can create an impact that improves the lives of Ghanian children and teachers. I also hope to create a connection, a line of communication between our classrooms. In that way perhaps my students and I can continue to work to create change in global education. 

     I am fundraising to cover the costs of the Fellowship, the travel costs, including fellowship fees, airline tickets, vaccinations, visas, and travel insurance. Any additional money raised will be used to support the schools in Ghana.
