I never thought I’d be writing something like this, but life can change quickly.

I was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma and have just started chemotherapy (AVD). I’m staying positive and focused on getting through this, but the adjustment has been real.

I work in construction, and anyone who knows me knows I’m not the type to sit still. I take a lot of pride in what I do, and being on the job keeps me grounded. My plan is to keep working as much as I can through treatment—not just financially, but because it helps me stay mentally strong and focused.

That said, the reality of chemo is unpredictable. Some days I may feel okay, and other days I may not be able to work at all. The physical demands of construction, combined with treatment, make it difficult to rely on a steady income the way I normally would.

On top of that, there are added costs that come with treatment—travel, medications, and everyday expenses that don’t slow down.

I’ve always been someone who handles things on my own, so asking for help doesn’t come easy. But right now, I’m trying to focus my energy on getting through treatment and coming back stronger.

Even a few hours on site means a lot to me, but I’m learning quickly that I have to listen to my body more than I’m used to.
