Wooley’s surgery
Donation protected
Hi! Im Shelbi. My bf, Steven, and I have owned Wooley (corgi chihuahua mix) for 8 years. We got him from a rescue that claimed he was already fixed. On Christmas Eve our other dog started peeing blood which thankfully turned out to just be a uti (she is fine). When we bathed them that night, I picked up Wooley from his behind and noticed a concerning lump. We were able to get an appt with out local vet a month later since they were quite busy. They said since the lump is on his urethra, they don’t feel comfortable operating on him and recommend a specialist. We finally saw them and spent 1k on xrays, consultation and sending out bloodwork to find out our lil man’s lump was a cancerous tumor. They were also very concerned that the tumor was on his urethra that it could result in removing his entire penis and creating a new pee hole. They actually thought we would be in better hands at a cancer specialist. So then we spent another $300 on a consultation with the new place to then have to spend $2k on a ct scan. This ct scan showed the doctors that he actually still had his balls that never dropped. It’s called cryptorchids which is a cool spot in the body for cancer to grow. Turns out his right testicle was swollen and grew the cancer which is the only reason we noticed it was there. The surgeons at the cancer specialist removed it by performing a neutering and sent the tumor for a biopsy to make sure the cancer hasn’t spread. He was hopeful so we are too. If it has spread we have to start chemo. I know most people wouldn’t spend this much on their dogs but this guy is my everything. He’s saved my life mentally several times and I’d do anything for him. We’re not expecting anyone really to donate and if you do we’re definitely not expecting a lot but we’re very grateful.
As of now he is safe and super drugged up in his comfy puppy bed at home. Please when you adopt any animal please get receipts of your animal being fixed and if you don’t please get them checked by a vet so this doesn’t happen to you. I am very thankful for all the mental support friends and family has given us. We love you all
