Funeral Services for Woody

My mom Woody suffers from cirrhosis of the liver. To be clear she has NASH disease which is Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (she would kill me if I didn’t clarify that lol). The only way to cure this disease is to receive a new liver. While waiting for a new liver her health has drastically declined from the time she was diagnosed, 2 years ago. She has been in and out of the hospital/ICU countless times over the past year, dealing with complications of this disease. 

On Wednesday, February 12th, my sister and I went to visit my mom in the hospital and had a great day with her. She was joking and happy, besides the obvious everyday pain she’s been in for the past year and a half. She asked me to create a GoFundMe page to help with getting her a walk-in bath tub. The current bath tub we have installed is too high for her to get in which makes bathing extremely challenging instead of relaxing.

Unfortunately, on Friday she took a turn for the worse and has been in the ICU since then. She is currently in critical but stable condition. We don’t know what the next few days, weeks, or months will hold but we do know she will have medical expenses that we just can’t afford on our own. My mom is a fighter. She’s been through more tragedy, heartbreak, and pain than anyone should endure in one lifetime. She’s lost a daughter to a tragic accident, fought through breast cancer, uterine cancer, a mastectomy, and NASH disease and has never once asked for help. It’s time I do my best to get her the help she has finally asked for and deserves.

For the time being these funds will be used to pay for all the out of pocket medical expenses that are accruing. But we are praying she will bounce back from this setback and we can use these funds to also get her the walk-in bath tub she deserves. Even the strongest people need a helping hand.
