Woodworking for Warriors: Equipping Veterans with Hand Tool Sets for Learning & Craftsmanship

Woodworking for Warriors is dedicated to providing veterans with a fully equipped woodshop, professional training, and a supportive community where they can learn, create, and thrive. Our mission is to help veterans develop woodworking skills, build confidence, and find a renewed sense of purpose—all within a strong, supportive community of fellow veterans.

Our Goal: $32,000 for Hand Tool Sets for Veterans.

We are launching this campaign to raise $32,000 to purchase hand tool sets for one instructor and nine student workbenches. These tools will be used in hands-on woodworking classes where veterans can learn traditional hand tool techniques, refine their skills, and create meaningful projects.

Why Hand Tools? While power tools are great for efficiency, hand tools provide a deeper understanding of woodworking fundamentals, precision, and craftsmanship. Learning to use chisels, saws, hand planes, and marking tools teaches patience, skill, and attention to detail—all valuable lessons both in and out of the workshop.

️ How These Tools Will Be Used:

✅ Hands-on Classes: Veterans will learn traditional woodworking techniques like joinery, planning, and carving.

✅ Member Use: These tools will be available for veterans working on their own projects at the shop.

✅ Skill Development: Many veterans are interested in fine woodworking but may not have access to high-quality hand tools—this program will change that.

The Challenge: Veteran Isolation & the Power of Community
For many veterans, transitioning to civilian life can be challenging, often leading to feelings of isolation and loss of purpose. Woodworking for Warriors provides a space where veterans can reconnect, learn new skills, and build friendships—all through the craft of woodworking.

According to the 2023 National Veteran Suicide Prevention Annual Report, 6,352 veterans lost their lives to suicide in 2021—an average of 17.5 per day. One of the report’s top recommendations is community-driven programs that provide veterans with a sense of purpose and belonging.

Woodworking for Warriors has been doing exactly that since 2018, and this hand tool initiative will expand our ability to serve veterans in even more meaningful ways.

How Your Donation Will Help

To fully equip our instructor and nine student workbenches with high-quality hand tools, we need to raise $32,000.

Your donation will directly support the purchase of, among other tools:

  • Saws (tenon saws, dovetail saws, coping saws)
  • ️Chisels & Mallets
  • Marking & Measuring Tools (squares, marking gauges, rulers)
  • Hand Planes for smoothing and shaping wood
  • Sharpening Equipment to maintain tools in top condition
  • Chair making tools

With your support, we can ensure that every veteran in our program has access to the tools they need to learn, create, and grow.
Make an Impact—Donate Today!

Every donation, no matter the amount, will bring us closer to our goal of $32,000 and help us provide veterans with the tools they need to develop woodworking skills, find community, and regain a sense of purpose. To the extent we raise more than our target, we will use that money to support our operations.

Join us in making a difference. Every contribution helps us continue our mission: Therapy Disguised as Woodworking.
