It truely is a miracle that John has survived this ordeal. The prayers of hundreds have been answered! The doctors say less than 20% of patients with his circumstances even survive and even less regain brain functionality like he has.
On Saturday afternoon 12/21/19 at 430 I discovered John slumped over on a workout bench in our backyard in full cardiac arrest and not breathing. Our 19 year old son and I performed CPR for 10 minutes until the paramedics arrived and took over. They continued CPR and gave 4 shocks with a defibrillator over the next 20 minutes before they got his heart beating again. John was transported to Pomerado hospital where he was stabilized before being flown by helicopter to Palomar medical center in Escondido.
Miraculously John woke up and on Christmas Eve was able to talk to us! After a few more days of resting John was able to remember day to day and although very weak he is able to get up a bit. The doctors installed an ICD (pacemaker/defibrillator) on 12/27 and John is now just waiting to heal from a punctured lung. We hope he can be discharged from the hospital by Monday 12/30 and begin the next phase of his recovery at home with the kids who miss him terribly.
We have been told that John is not allowed to drive for a minimum of 3 months. With his profession as a driver this makes things more complicated and we are uncertain if he will ever be able to return to the line of work he has done for 30+ years.
Your support and continued prayers for his healing and patience as we navigate through his recovery and the next phase of our lives means more to us than we can express.❤ Sandy
