Maeqtekuahkihkiw Metaemohsak Inc., Woodland Women are a group of Menominee women who are keeping tradition and teachings alive by supporting the mind, body, and spirit through cultural advocacy. Woodland Women have helped our people stay in recovery, heal from violence, and give back to our community. We have held sacred fires for those that have been struggling with sobriety and those who have lost loved ones and those who have endured violence and need help healing. We held retreats where we had talking circles, traditional foods, and workshops. We also bring awareness to our relatives who have gone missing and murdered and support thier families. Before the pandemic we were able to meet weekly and bead, sew, weave, and create while we healed together. We are elder and spirit led in our efforts to end gender based violence, addiction, homelessness, and bring back our connection to who we are as Menominee women. 




We have grown over the last 7 years and because of the pandemic one of our goals is to hold virtual teachings and supply our people with supplies for sewing projects, beading projects, weaving projects, and regalia projects. We need help in reaching this goal so that we can continue to heal and transform our future for everyone. Our work is long term and our cultural advocacy movement is leading the way for others to heal and connect to who they are in their own culture and traditions. 




.We are faced with challenges that are not fast enough to help in healing and thriving. We need resources that help us rebuild in this time of healing and safety. We need to keep on the road of cultural advocacy as our solution based in healing and safety.
