As many of you know, The Woodland Co-op Preschool has a long history in the Woodland Community. The Preschool was started by Ethel Goerig in 1971 as a partnership between Woodland Public Schools, the Fort Vancouver Library, and the Woodland Fire and Police Departments. Teacher Kathy, Miss Goerig's great-niece, took over as the teacher in 1975. Teacher Kathy was an important part of our little town. She touched many lives and positively effected so many families in our community. In 2004, Teacher Kathy retired and Jennifer Ikerd became the teacher at the preschool. If you are a Woodland resident it is likely that you know Teacher Jen. Her amazing teaching style, her friendly voice, wonderful smile and her larger than life laugh has been the corner stone of the Co-op for 17 years.
In 2018 the program expanded for the first time, adding another classroom and teacher, the total enrollment grew from 44 to 84 students. The program provides the Clark & Cowlitz community with an early learning program to help promote and foster a strong foundation to pre-kindergarten children. We are dedicated to early childhood education and preparing children for kindergarten.
Unfortunately, as like many other small business in this community, Covid-19 has had a negative impact on our program. This non-profit preschool would like to continue to provide low-cost, high quality education to preschool age children in the area. With your help, we can keep this integral program open. Any donation amount will help, if you are unable to make a monetary donation, we will also accept age appropriate educational toys and learning materials.
