I was debating opening a GoFundMe after Hurricane Lala hit us, but looking at everything that happened around our home made me realize that this did impact my family a lot. We never thought we would have to experience anything like this, but only God knows why. I have been questioning myself, “Why did this happen to us when we do no harm to others?” “Why us?” Millions of questions that can’t be answered. After 6 years of hard work and dedication, we have lost one of our sources of income. We have lost two of our work trucks and work tools because of the flood. I know our trucks weren’t $50,000+ trucks, but we worked long hours and long nights to achieve what we had. Unfortunately, our insurance didn’t cover anything.

I’ll talk a little about ourselves. We are a young couple with two beautiful daughters located in Wood Valley, Pahala. We are humble, loving, and family-oriented; everything we do is for our family. We have always loved to lend a hand to those in need, even if we don’t have it ourselves. This event has hurt my family mentally and emotionally. The flooding has made it extremely difficult for us to move forward. We are currently isolated in Pahala and trying to figure out what comes next while dealing with the loss of our belongings and the sense of security we once had. The funds will be used to replace work tools that were lost or damaged, and if possible, to purchase a truck. We know that not everyone is in a position to donate, and we completely understand. Sharing this fundraiser with friends, family, or others who may be able to help would mean so much to us. We are extremely grateful for everyone in the community who has helped and supported us throughout this event. Also, we want to thank everyone who takes their time to read our story.
