Update: Yohana’s April surgery was successful thanks to you dear Donors! The fluid was drained from her brain and her benign tumor was removed. Now, she no longer has seizures , nor are her headaches intense like they were. But she gets dizzy spells and is still very week, and still cannot work.
She has a follow-up appointment tomorrow, and was able to get the copay reduced to $600. We are trying to raise $900 for the copay and for medications. Please dip into your pockets if you can to help Yohana pay for this needed follow-up appointment!
With Love and Gratitude,
Peggy
Yohana left Honduras and came to the US 8 years ago after she and her 2 boys, Denis, now 13, and Iker, now 10, were targeted for abuse by a local gang. The gang had been trying to pressure Yohana into paying extortion money in exchange for her children’s safety.
Then, 5 years ago, Yohana was diagnosed with a brain tumor. This tumor affected her vision and causes her to have frequent convulsions, for which she is often goes to the emergency room. Recently the tumor has worsened, causing excruciating headaches. To make matters worse, a growth has appeared on the left side of her forehead, which shoots pain throughout her face. Her skull is surrounded by cranial fluid that adds to the pressure and makes her face swell. Yohana is in so much pain that she can no longer work.
Emergency medicaid will pay for some, but not all, of the expenses. Please donate to help pay this co-pay so that the surgery can proceed.
