Women's Center

This photo is a group of my friends that have been together since high school.  A few even grade school. We have stayed in touch throughout the years on & off in varying degrees, some more than others. This year, as a tribute to the longevity of our 45+ year friendship, we gathered in Madeira Beach to reminisce, catch up, cry & laugh together about our families, all of life's greatest moments, as well as some tragedies & tribulations. We vowed to remain close in the special bond we created those many years ago. We spoke of the fortunate way we were raised in a common & safe environment, growing up with similar family values &. a great geographical locale.

Feeling rather emotional towards the end of our visit, we were moved to commit ourselves to a group of women that were not or may not be as fortunate as ourselves.
One of the ladies in our group, Stephanie Burrough Corcoran, is an Administrative Assitant at the non- profit  Women's Center in Melbourne, Florida.
Their mission statement is:
To assist in creating safe, healthy, self-sufficient lives by providing support, education, counseling, information & services to survivors of domestic, dating, and sexual violence, and those suffering the ill effects of poverty, homelessness, and mental health challenges.

We are especially reaching out to our friends, family & fellow alumni who may be as nostalgic about our years growing up in West Islip & anyone who feels so moved or has been affected by these life altering issues.
