Women in Cybersecurity at Texas A&M University
Donation protected
Hello!
We are the Women in Cybersecurity chapter at Texas A&M University – San Antonio! We are attempting to infuse the student population with a Cybersecurity culture. Introducing the hacker culture to the small school is arduous; a simple donation can help alleviate the burden and bridge the gap. Please help us in any amount you can to achieve this goal! Even $5 helps to keep us growing!
Our mission is to recruit, retain, and advance Women in Cybersecurity. We want to be part of CISA's goal to help fill the Cybersecurity workforce gender gap by 2030. "We need 50% of Women by the year 2030," as stated during the keynote of CISA's Director, Jen Easterly, at the WiCyS March 2022 conference.
Our President, Marie Williams, is also an SGA Senator for the College of Business and is attempting to bring CTF culture to school. As a Senator of the Student Government Association, she listens to the concerns and goals of students majoring in Computing and Cybersecurity in an effort to effect change. She has informed our leadership about the Infosec community's connections and resources so that they can continue to create and expand the WiCyS chapter in the future. Our group pays back by facilitating student access to resources. Most students are unfamiliar with Try Hack Me and have never participated in Hack the Box or a CTF. We intend to rectify the situation while contributing to the school community, Best Buy Teen Tech Center, Cyber Patriot, and Alamo AFCEA. Our CTF Officer is also participating in this project; he will assist our students in practicing and learning capture the flags skills.
Our Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Community Outreach Officers have been diligently working together in the background to further the goal. You would assist us in bringing in speakers for our Cybersecurity students (we would like to pay our experienced speakers). These contributions would enable us to host mixers (mini-conferences at school) where employers come to speak with and recruit students, cover Cybersecurity education vouchers for students in need, aid a student in need of emergency finances, and help fund our brand-new WiCyS t-shirts.
If you are an individual and do not object, we will list your name as a donor on our website. If you are a company, your logo or name will appear on the back of our t-shirts, and our Webmaster will identify you as a sponsor on our website. Additionally, we will refer students to apply for careers at your company and participate in your company's capture the flags! Our mission is to recruit, retain, and advance women! In addition, we want to give our students Cybersecurity education and resources, as well as a Cybersecurity culture. Your generosity is much appreciated! In addition, we shall take you along the journey to showcase where the funds are going as it happens (fun video updates, blog posts, and Instagram posts).
Please let us know if you would prefer to write us a check. Our school has a Marketplace store for our organization where you can donate!
Thank you incredibly!
