Women in Afghanistan reach their true potential
In August I am doing a leisurely 3.8km distance, 1km vertical "run" in the Swiss Alps to raise some much needed funds for the Linda Norgrove Foundation.
It's very unlikely you'll have heard of the Foundation but this truly amazing charity helps disadvantaged women & children in Afghanistan.
Born out of tragedy Linda's death, her parents established it in 2010 to bring hope to underprivileged Women who need much needed support.
From its base in the Isle of Lewis it funds scholarships for women to study medicine, law, etc; classes for poor kids; school libraries; childcare; skills training for women especially widows to help them earn a living & become self sustaining.
As I am sure you're aware since the Taliban retook control of Afghanistan the position for Women has materially worsened.
I have been blessed in my life and career to work with hugely talented women and men, and anything I/we can do to give the women of Afghanistan just a hint of the same opportunities has to be a good thing.
Thanks in advance,
