My name is Josselyn Wolf and I am an eighteen-year-old artist/activist. For the past several months, I have been developing and directing a short film documentary to bring human stories to light and inspire change.
REGENERATION: A Story of Women, Climate, and the LA Fires follows the stories of seven women displaced by the LA fires in the aftermath that outlives the news cycle. REGENERATION offers a hopeful and human climate story, an ode to the regrowth that occurs within people and planet, and the conviction that "out of the ashes, beauty will rise."
Around the world, women are disproportionately impacted by climate change. They are the keepers of home and heritage, the caregivers, and the ones impacted by deep inequalities exacerbated by every climate event. Despite striking regional and global inequality, women are vastly underrepresented in climate decision-making positions: only eight out of 78 world leaders at COP29 were women.
Empathy begins with curiosity and change begins with empathy. That is why, amidst statistics, I was inspired to seek the human stories.
On January 7th, 2025, fires turned the city of Los Angeles into a war zone and lives to ash. Months later, the news cycle has moved on, but thousands of lives and a city remain forever changed.
In the summer of 2025, seven women welcomed us into their worlds. Their stories will move you, mobilize you, inspire you, and convince you that on this rapidly-changing planet, we are not alone.
The earth can regenerate, and with curiosity, community, and active hope, so can we.
Thank you for your support to bring their stories into the world and shift the climate narrative from one of short attention spans and fear to one of hope and action.
In our final push of post-production on the film, we greatly appreciate all this community has given and anything you feel compelled to give. As a production funded entirely by crowdsourcing, your generosity is the reason this film is possible.
To the stories that inspire change… and to the people that ensure they are told,
Josselyn
