"Never Turn Away A Woman," is a movement to empower and provide a voice for the women of the Union Rescue Misson/women of skidrow. Our goal with this Go Fund Me is to get enough donations to build what we call, "Survivor Beauty Bags," which will include feminine products that give a sense of beauty to these sometimes negleted women. We want people to help with donations in order to raise money to fill up Tote Bags with lotions, essential oils, personalized cards, socks, lip balms, maxi pads, nail polish, hair brushes, soaps and other fem products.
(HERE'S A LITTLE UPDATE SINCE THE ABOVE POST WAS WRITTEN..............NTAAW HAS ACCOMPLISHED MAKING 150 SURVIVOR BEAUTY BAGS! WE PASSED THEM OUT SUNDAY, AUGUST 27TH TO THE WOMEN OF THE UNION RESCUE MISSION. THOSE SMILES AND HUGS FROM THE WOMEN WERE WORTH ALL THE HARD WORK)
We are also raising awareness by creating workshops for the women at the shelter with building a community of art projects, writing workshops, yoga and breathing exercises, and bringing in self defense workshops as well. These help with a positive environment that they don't get on a everyday basis. We have been gathering momentum.
WHAT'S NEXT FOR 2018-- We are planning on getting sponsors and donations for art supplies so we can have a art wall dedicated to the women of Skidrow! Also we will be planning a art show where the women could sell their own work.
