A family’s worst nightmare happened on Saturday morning, June 16th, 2018.
On Friday, there was a beautiful family of 5. There was the mother Natalia, her son Nick (20), her daughter Jessica (17), her daughter Kiki (15), and her son Nate (12). They were a vibrant family. Nick participated in the Special Olympics in multiple sports including swimming, skiing, and floor hockey. Jessica was the family’s heartbeat, from helping raise her siblings, helping her mom around the house, and helping pay bills by working part-time in a bakery, all while handling her homework as a high school student. Kiki was a joy to be around, and spread her love for animals to everyone she knew. Nate was the perfect boy; always helpful, caring, and accepting of everyone around him.

Everything changed on Saturday morning.

The family traveled from Kennesaw to South Carolina, where mom Natalia was dropping off the girls at a summer camp. Nick stayed home, and he said goodbye to his mom, brother, and two sisters. That morning, there was a tragic accident, sending all of the women to the hospital. Nate died on impact. Kiki later passed away at the hospital. Jessica suffered from a broken arm, and Natalia has 5 broken ribs and a broken bone in her neck.

This family needs our help. Natalia is a single mother, and does not have health insurance. She now has to bury her two youngest children, while struggling to recover from injuries herself, and remain strong for her two surviving children. She now doesn’t have a car, although I’m not sure the family will ever want to get inside another vehicle ever again. Her ability to support her family is halted, which is something no parent should ever endure, especially while grieving for the loss of two children.
Our community is reeling from this sudden tragic loss. In this moment of need, a donation of any amount will be greatly appreciated in helping our beloved friend and her family.
