Wolfram Syndrome Fundraiser
Donation protected
Hi, if you are reading this then you know that Tom has been diagnosed with Wolfram Syndrome. If you were going to bring a present to my 50th then we'd be incredibly grateful if you would instead consider making a donation.
Because WS only impacts 1 in 750 000 it's not in the best interests of drug companies to research treatments or a cure so the community are raising funds themselves to help fund clinical trials, with a real focus on attempting to slow down sight loss. With the help of an amazing anonymous philanthropist in the US, any donation my brother makes in November is multiplied by 10 for Thanksgiving.
If you are kind enough to donate for example £10, this would result in the charity receiving £110. I know it sounds too good to be true, but last year we managed to raise 10k and there were quite a few tears when this was turned into 110k.
Since the donation has to be made via my brother and in November, I've set up this page rather than ask for donations to be made directly to the charity. I appreciate this all sounds very convoluted, but the charity will receive far more money this way. I'm more than happy to put anyone in touch with Steph at the Snow Foundation, I don't think she quite believed that our donation would be multiplied ten times until the money actually arrived!!
Tom continues to be unbelievably positive and brave in light of his diagnosis and is full of smiles. He plans to help serve drinks with some of his friends at the party, but I suspect they will get bored and wander off after about 10 minutes!!
Thank you x
