We're asking the community to help support the Wolfram Family as Steve recovers from necrotizing pancreatitis.

Steve Wolfram's health crisis has had a significant impact on his life and that of his family. Since November, Steve has been battling acute gallstone pancreatitis, resulting in a series of medical complications that have left him hospitalized. He was transferred to Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and admitted to the Surgical ICU for the past 14 weeks, where they have specialized pancreatic surgeons.

As a consequence, both Steve and Tami have been unable to work, placing a strain on their financial resources.

Steve's condition rapidly escalated following the discovery of a large gallstone obstructing the duct to his pancreas, necessitating immediate life-sustaining medical care. Despite the efforts of healthcare professionals, Steve's pancreatitis progressed to necrotizing pancreatitis (which means most of his pancreas has died), leading to serious infections, respiratory failure, tracheostomy, blood clots, and he was in Septic Shock.

His ongoing treatment has included multiple procedures to remove dead pancreatic tissue, a feeding tube, dialysis, and respiratory support.

Throughout this challenging ordeal, Tami has remained steadfastly by Steve's side, advocating for his care and coordinating with medical staff. However, this has meant exhausting her vacation and sick days, while also incurring additional expenses associated with lodging near the hospital.

While there is optimism among Steve's medical team regarding his eventual recovery, the road ahead will be arduous. He will require ongoing care and rehabilitation at a Long-Term Acute Care Hospital, encompassing physical, occupational, and speech therapy.

Meanwhile, the Wolframs continue to face the burden of medical bills, as well as everyday expenses, including mortgage payments, utility bills, and other essential needs.
